SAP BPM

We use it for checking stock, checking pricing and keeping inventory updated. It is used throughout the entire organization to my knowledge. It solves a lot of problems because, without it, we would have no way of helping our consumers or customers. We would never know how much product we have in stock.

I think it's definitely suited for a manufacturing and call center type of business because it allows all entities to work together and not have to go through so many different systems, if only there was a live count for inventory. I really can't think of a scenario where it is less suited.

We use it for SAP projects and it works well with SAP products and use it mainly to automate procedures and avoid manual process/procedure where possible and can be integrated with ERP/CRM. It helps orchestrate the business processes very well and integrate them.

It is well suited when we need to integrate business processes with SAP ERP and SAP CRM - the solution can be integrated with business rules/procedures defined in SAP ERP/CRM and NetWeaver can be used to monitor the rules and flag off exceptions. When there are multiple workflows running, it tends to slow down running of these processes. Also, it entirely depends on SAP portal for it to run efficiently.

If your organization is heavily invested in SAP as an enterprise wide solution already, BPM is really your only option. Solid, seamless integration, smooth workflow, and data trails for business analysis are impeccable. If you aren't already heavily invested, key questions to ask would be - Am I using too big a hammer? The results are impressive, no doubt, but the integration of BPM is demanding. A less-demanding, more intutive tool like Winshuttle or even AR Projekt that hooks in to SAP might be a simpler option.
