Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a supplier, we use SAP Business Network (SBN) to digitally connect with our customers and streamline the entire order‑to‑invoice process. The platform serves as a single, standardized channel for exchanging business documents and maintaining real‑time visibility into transactions.

Pros

  • Seamless Purchase Order Management
  • Real-Time Order Collaboration
  • Advanced Shipping Notifications

Cons

  • Setting up cXML or EDI integration can be time-consuming and requires deep technical expertise.
  • The portal UI can feel outdated and unintuitive for occasional users.
  • When a document fails (e.g., invoice rejection), error messages can be cryptic.

Return on Investment

  • Electronic invoicing and real-time status tracking have shortened payment cycles, improving working capital and reducing disputes.
  • Meeting large customers’ compliance and digital collaboration requirements has strengthened relationships and positioned us for additional business.
  • Maintaining SAP Business Network connectivity for occasional buyers can be disproportionate to the benefit.

Best way to grow your Business multifold

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I utilise SAP Business Network to find live leads on the platform .the product helps businesses to find and approach b2b leads both at national and global level .Without SAP Business Network, I would have been able to work with clients like Target ,Syndicate Bank, and many other companies. Usually, big companies post their requirements on SAP, and from there, registered vendors can respond to their requirements either by messaging them directly over the platform or by participating in tenders .the platform is very user friendly .

Pros

  • Connects between buyers and sellers
  • Great for suppliers to find legitimate buyers with payment protection
  • Great for companies to find legitimate sellers which provides trust for companies and provides them access to reach broad range of verified suppliers

Cons

  • Some times when replying to buyers the page don't work .it's a technical glitch
  • The paid plan on SAP business network is little expensive or if it allowed for suppliers to pay in installments more sellers will join
  • The support system is not quick which sometimes makes new sellers to don't commit on the platform

Return on Investment

  • We had 10x growth in our annual revenue by using SAP Business Network.
  • We got two multinational clients like Target and syndicate bank which provided us 2 million usd annual work orders in 2023 .that alone is worth the multiple return on time and money invested on the platform
  • We also had our first big clients from SAP business network which keeps our business alive.

Empowering Agile Project Execution Through Real-Time Supplier Collaboration

SAP Business Network is one of the most impactful and visionary services, and it is an undefeated beast in the category. I am using it to monitor purchase order status and supplier commitments in real time to coordinate with procurement and finance teams on vendor selection and invoice approval, and along with that, it helps us in managing supply chain, cost, and also compliance-related matters. It is one of a kind and has always been so effective in each and every use case for us. We feel so lucky to have this service as our chosen one—a must-have for businesses.

  • Giving a straight direction to buy and manage.
  • Has collaborated with multiple businesses

Cons

  • Technological enhancements

SAP Business Network

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We as supplier connect with our customers for enabling punchout level 1 & 2. Customers with sufficient orderlines will go through a full EDI integration (orders, order confirmations, despatch advice, except from e-invoicing, this will go in Belgium mandatory via Peppol. Eriks will never go for PO-flip due to the complexity of our organisation (no reduction of administration). There is no link between the Business Network and the tendering process. This makes the tendering process very complex and we loose a lot of time. This must be improved.

Pros

  • Catalog
  • EDI integration

Cons

  • Tendering process
  • Communication between customer and supplier
  • Support between customer and supplier
  • Integrations with international customers: involvement of local organization is important

Return on Investment

  • Very good for punchout & EDI integration (ORDERS)
  • Returning messages: Ariba is too strict and allows no differences. All issues are addressed to supplier even if customer doesn't follow the EDI-rules
