The company I support use SAP Business Network as an automation tool for manufacturing and setting up for sales. Although it is a great tool and save many errors, it need a lot of tweaking to maintain full operations mostly using it printer cycle with the Zebra printers
  • Scanning
  • Keeping records of locations
  • Ease of using
  • A better selection of printer driver
  • A little more automation of utilities
I like how it work with new on borders

We use SAP Business Network to manage suppliers and post-sourcing events (requests for quotes, proposals, and expressions of interest) through Ariba Discovery. We also use it to manage our organization's profile so suppliers can find us and our postings. This product helps make our proposal request visible to a large network of suppliers already using the system.
  • Large network of suppliers.
  • One place for suppliers to see other organizations posting.
  • Ability to match based on categories.
  • Duplication of supplier network IDs that cause confusion and issue.
  • Ability to customize notification options for suppliers.
  • Ease of use when replying to postings.
SAP Business Network is great in that it can house the supply chain process for businesses (procure to pay) to see in one place, and categories can be set up to be matched with potential opportunities. However, it is not the most user-friendly, and the cost of using it can be difficult for some organizations to use fully, while other competitors are free.

I'm using SAP Business Network within Global Supply Chain for Master Data Management. We use the tool and applications to connect people and provide an automated business process for master data management across systems for multiple users and company sites.
The whole company uses SAP for many more uses cases, Human Ressource management, Finance & Controlling, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, sales, marketing and so on.
  • automated data transfer
  • similar user iterface across different applications
  • similar logic across different applications
  • facelift for User interface
  • bugfixing
well developed applications with broad support network behind. Business standards are available and modifications are possible.
Borad variety and scope for different business use cases are available and different applications are connected and data transfered.
The authorization and role concept is little complex and not that easy to understand, update and implement for business use. There is some manual effort required.

We use SAP Business Network in combination with p44 for tracking deliveries to customers, but also internally in our production network. We intend to receive more intelligent ETA by gathering milestone data from our 3PL via p44 and enriching those data with further environmental factors which could have an impact on the delivery date. Intelligent algorithms on p44 side are supposed to incorporate data which would impact the delivery time and routes, e.g. extreme weather conditions, traffic restriction information or political limitations.
  • Gathering information from different 3PL sources
  • Back-end integration into SAP ERP / S/4 HANA EM systems
  • Connecting the dots
  • Close cooperation with Transportation Management
  • Harmonization of integration to Trading partners for collaboration as well as milestone tracking
  • Increase the available reports and dashboards
  • Improve partner collaboration model within the SAP Business Network
  • Enable reports and dashboards by customers without need for Intelligence Insights
  • Aligned milestone status between BN4L and Transportation Management
Integration with Backend works well for enriching delivery data (esp. ETA) to deliveries in SAP ERP / S/4 HANA EM The gathering of data from different data sources / trading partners is well integrated and supported by different formats p44 as global track & trace partner is not well integrated Onboard of 3PL works well, but the mapping of milestones is not prepared / provided to an extent which would be expected for a standard solution

We use SAP for everything from purchase of pharmaceutical raw material to release and dispatch of medicine into market. SAP solves our business problems like maintaining inventory, release of raw material after testing for further batch processing, release of in process and final test results, its shows real time status of batch which saves lots of time, it is super easy to use. After final testing of product all results are up-loaded in SAP and as and when batch is packed and release into market. SAP keeps all inventory of manufactured, discard and dispatch products. SAP helps us in maintain record of batch manufactured and in preparation of important document like APQR i.e annual product quality review.
  • Inventory management raw material and products manufactured
  • Real time status of test results i.e. pass or fail
  • APQR preparation
  • storage of data
  • Perform seamless transaction for release of batch
  • SAP should come up with AI chatbot for new learner, as it will help fresher to learn fast.
  • Lots of batch data is generated in SAP, if SAP will allow to perform data analysis like 3SD and nelson rule than we don't have to buy other software like Minitab to perform the data analysis.
  • Still in pharma industry's integration of SAP is less with manufacturing equipment, i would like to see how SAP can help us in that.
Without SAP pharma industry is spinless, the work which used to take hours to do SAP do it in seconds. It helps me in everything from review of data to release of batch. It is a very diverse product, can used for any thing and can be integrated with all other software for example LIMS and CDS etc. For me its a super app so its deserve a perfect 10.

Mainly we needed something that brought asset management and out supply chains together under 1 umbrellea
  • simplicity
  • usability
  • detail oriented
  • They could add some functionalities
  • A better training library for features that are listed but unaware how to use.
  • just clean up the overall look of it its kind of dated
Does a great job for the product availabilty in the market today. We have been more than thrilled with its overall functionality and industry leading at that. We looked at various other similar programs that didnt quite suite our needs

Critical issues such as supply chain inefficiencies, partner management complexity, erratic demand, worldwide distribution, and financial transparency are essentially addressed by the SAP Business Network. From the time a song is written until it reaches a listener's home, practically every facet of our business is impacted by the broad span of our use case. Our ability to respond quickly to the changing needs of the music industry has been enhanced by this all-encompassing strategy, which has also increased our operational efficiency.
  • Real-Time Inventory Management.
  • Integrated Supplier Management.
  • Collaborative Forecasting with Partners.
  • Audit and Compliance Adherence.
  • Complex Navigation.
  • The mobile version of SAP Business Network lacks the full functionality available on the desktop platform.
  • The current integration capabilities of SAP Business Network are somewhat limited.
When cooperating with several stakeholders during the release of a music CD, for example, the SAP Business Network shines at inventory management, distribution, and smooth communication. Its broad capabilities and integration complexity, however, might be intimidating and unnecessary for small-scale, specialist enterprises that need simpler solutions. As such, it is less suitable for these types of businesses. Similarly, companies who find their present predictive tools inadequate may require highly specialized, trend-driven analytics.

SAP Business Network is used for procurement process where it combines the Purchasers with the Vendors. There are a lot of B2B transactions happening and it is used in many fields like Supply Chain & Operations, Plant Maintenance & Asset Management and logistics as well. Comparing to the previous experiences it helped a lot to our customers gaining a good experience especially in the procurement cycle.
  • Creates a network between different partners (buyers, sellers etc.)
  • Improves the visibility for the processes
  • Digitalize the Procure-to-Pay cycle
  • In some cases, it promises a lot but still lacks more partners joined to the network
  • Being the pioneer, the idea behind the product can be confusing sometimes
  • It is still not accessible for all kinds of markets (especially small and mid sizes)
I think it promises a lot especially on Asset Management. Because it just not only support the procurement for MRO materials but also helps on the service side as well. Also having integrations with Asset Intelligence Network, it has a lot potential for collaborations with different kinds of partners (OEM, Service Providers, Customers etc.)

SAP Business Network revolutionized our Construction & Development Company's operations. Its intuitive interface and robust analytics optimized our supply chain and procurement processes, enhancing project planning and risk management. Seamless collaboration among stakeholders improved communication and transparency, leading to streamlined workflows and notable improvements in project timelines, cost management, and resource allocation. This platform ensured regulatory compliance, making it an indispensable tool for enhancing overall project efficiency. Highly recommended for comprehensive and effective management solutions.
  • Facilitates seamless communication and information sharing between stakeholders, enhancing project transparency and collaboration.
  • Optimizes supply chain and procurement processes, leading to improved resource allocation and cost management.
  • Provides robust analytics for data-driven decision-making, fostering effective project planning and risk management.
  • Improve user interface for enhanced intuitiveness and ease of use.
  • Enhance integration capabilities with other software and systems for smoother data exchange.
  • Provide more comprehensive and customizable reporting options to meet diverse business needs.
SAP Business Network is ideal for large-scale businesses in manufacturing, retail, and logistics, enabling seamless supply chain management and robust analytics for optimized procurement and risk mitigation. Its integrated financial management capabilities suit companies seeking transparent financial operations and regulatory compliance. However, smaller businesses with simpler supply chains might find its implementation complex and costly, leading to administrative burdens. Integration challenges with specialized software systems could result in operational inefficiencies and data discrepancies for businesses heavily reliant on niche solutions.

Firstly, European suppliers are not committed to changes, therefore, we figured out during pilot phase in Central Europe that common suppliers were not willing to register in SAP Business Network (at that time it was called Ariba Network). Furthermore, even if the usage is easy and a user can be trained within hours, it is hard to manage users, vendors etc.
  • Finding new suppliers
  • Enable suppliers
  • Purchase Order Monitoring
  • Invoicing
  • Document Exchange with suppliers
  • Catalogue enablement
Suppliers need to be forced to register in SAP Business network and suppliers are fearing high annual fees when it come to more advanced accounts or the number of documents (e.g. Purchase Orders, Invoices etc.) are increasing. Most likely, the network is not suitable for organizations with 500 or more vendors in different countries.

All Direct and indirect Spend, used for PO, OC, ASN, INV. End to End PTP.
  • Send transaction documents through the network
  • Ability to manage the invoicing rules set
  • Supplier Enablement, data accuracy for onboarding new suppliers
  • Alignment of buyer and seller in their network use, and ensuring the adoption of the business team for the solution.
well suited: Scenarios where both parties use the network to full capabilities in alignment with each other. situations where the seller is not being onboarded to the network and continues to use alternative process.

We use the SAP Business Network to transact business with our customers and it is one of the most used eCommerce channels in Computacenter.
  • Easy integration
  • Wide reach to different suppliers
  • Give flexibility to transact either fully integrated or where required also with a manual touch
  • Complex account logic / multiple ANIDs required
  • Getting transaction reports across multiple ANIDs
Frankly, for us Business Network is the best option where it is already in use by a customer of ours. We rarely get to influence our customer on the decision of their procurement platform, but if we get the opportunity we would quite selfishly recommend the SAP Business Network, because it is particularly easy to work with from our perspective.

Supplier on the SBN

We are using the SBN as a supplier to connect with our buyers across multiple geographies.
At the same time we are using the SAP Ariba Portal solution to integrate with some of our suppliers.
  • Integrations
  • Analytics
  • Documentation
  • Account management - too many "rogue" accounts are created
  • Discovery - Network catalogues are a nice feature but should be better controllable in regard to reach - as we are not allowed to sell everything to everyone..
Great for buyers to procure - less focus on actual supplier ease of work
But SAP is getting there slowly

I m currently responsible for supplier enablement and increasing e-invoicing rate in our organization. One of our recent issue was unreliability on PDF uploader, we have started to experience issues when partnership of SAP with cloudtrade was changed. Unfortunately we had to off-board many of our supplier due to re-occurring issues with the PDF uploader and very slow support via route of ticketing on Ariba connect. Otherwise I really like your products and happy that we decided to invest into more of your other solutions
  • Adding new solutions
  • Communicating changes in their products
  • Close collaboration (with NDL, Customer Success Manager)
  • Support via Ariba connect - slow resolution, asking questions that were already mentioned in the ticket
  • PDF uploader with Cloud Trade
Well suited
-automation of invoicing
-integration of supplier systems with buyers
Less appropriate
-not suitable for small volume vendors
