Currently we use this application in cleansing activities of large volume of raw data across different landscapes. Data and Import Manager is very widely and frequently used in order to Import data and maintain data form various 3rd party application files directly, no intermediate medium required. The Extraction Tools available are very very helpful. And also the transactional layer where we input is very good and can work directly from database. Initial Setup for this tool is also very basic, don't need much technical support.
  • Import Manager and Data Manager for Data Maintenance and Load from third party applications
  • MDSS MIS Console for UX
  • MDM PI Adapter for Interfaces is very helpful
  • Extraction Reference Data and MDLS Publisher
  • Create and Managing MDM Connections between MDM and Java/IIS Servers is effective.
  • Interface integration is currently possible for only JAVA, .NET/IIS, ABAP technology based applications only with Web Services, should also be more robust supporting other technical interfaces.
  • Qualified link Level Check-Ins, Check-Outs, Work Flows needs to be enabled.
  • More Extensive Constraints to be enable for role based users for Lookups and tables form Qualified Link directly.
  • Complex Calculations needs to be more robust, improvements to be made.
Master Data Consolidation and Distributions of Cleansed data is very good, Synchronization is consistent, Catalogues available with various releases is very helpful to know additional elements added. Storage of Multimedia and Documents is done centrally such that any user with role based access could access, Standard Adapters inclusion for exportations is very helpful. Avoids De Duplications and Re Distributions, Key Mapping enablement for data consolidations is very helpful.

We use SAP NetWeaver MDM within our organization to aggregate data, cleanse data and synchronize data so that we can have a single version of master data across the enterprise and this version of data can be leveraged by users in the organization to use data as an asset in business making for the organization and also use it to do data modelling.
  • SAP MDM comes with a workflow engine that can be used by the business to define workflows, run workflows and monitor workflows
  • SAP MDM also enables to create, read, update, and delete master data well across the organization
  • With proper setup, it has helped prevent bad master data in the production environment
  • HANA is used for consolidation and there is adequate room for improvement in the consolidation function
  • Business users can also contribute to improving the business workflows if there were a simple wizard set up for this purpose - at present, contributions are made through IT ticketing system
Fairly easy to set up and get started even in large enterprises with the help of the configuration tools that come with the product. Also, the workflow engine can be defined with relative ease and monitored.
Perhaps this product works very well in an SAP environment as it can be integrated with other SAP products
