What is Userflow?

Userflow is a cloud-based Digital Adoption platform for product, growth, customer success, and marketing teams. It adds onboarding, contextual guidance, announcements, feedback collection, and self-service help to an existing application. Teams configure these experiences visually after installing Userflow’s JavaScript client.

Key Capabilities

In-app guidance: Flows combine tooltips, speech bubbles, and modals into walkthroughs. Checklists, launchers, banners, and a Resource Center provide onboarding tasks, feature explanations, and persistent help.
Targeting and personalization: Experiences can be selected by user attributes, behavior, or lifecycle stage. Themes and localization adapt content to the host application.
Adoption Agent: An in-app assistant retrieves relevant material from connected websites, knowledge bases, and Userflow content to answer questions with source references. It can suggest published walkthroughs or configured Action Flows; users confirm before an Action Flow runs.
Feedback collection: Surveys support ratings, Net Promoter Score (NPS), and text responses. Answers can populate user attributes, determine subsequent steps, and appear in aggregated reporting.
Measurement and testing: Analytics track interaction with Userflow experiences. Teams can compare flow variants using an A/B test-group attribute and inspect triggering problems with the Userflow Debugger.

Technical Specifications

Userflow.js installs through an npm package or an HTML snippet. The application supplies user identifiers and optional attributes for targeting. Production and staging environments have separate tokens. A Chrome extension previews content before installation; identity verification is available to protect user identification.
