Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Waves is used in multiple applications within our organization. The main use is with the Waves Sound Grid in our sound system, along with the Mercury plugin bundle for live sound mixing. This allows us to achieve a post-produced quality of sound in a live scenario, which would not be possible using onboard options alone. Plugins are also used in a DAW for post-produced podcasts, video productions, and misc projects.
Pros
- Offers massive library of tools
- Easy installation and updates
- Fantastic support and instructions online
Cons
- Upgrading between versions i.e. v11 to v12
- Transfer of ownership
- More approachable pricing
Likelihood to Recommend
Waves is well suited to "prosumer" scenarios as well as professional mixing businesses. To implement any number of plugins can become cost-prohibitive to many users, but given a proper budget, Waves can be irreplaceable. Users who have limited experience or knowledge of advanced mixing techniques have the potential to get lost in the "sea" of options, not knowing how to begin.
