Overall Satisfaction with Waves

I use Waves in my recording studio/office area. I mean, what's not good about Waves? It has all of the best compressors/limiters. Incredible reverbs. Excellent real-time auto-tune for live performances. And the sound quality of these plugins is second to none. The OneKnob collection is much more useful than you think just because it sounds so good. I wish I could have afforded a bigger bundle, but everything I use most commonly is in the one I have. It's so powerful.
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Ultra low latency
  • Gives that "polished" sound to the music
  • Can be a bit CPU intensive at times
  • I wish the EQ options were a little better
  • I wish the Waves Tune Real-Time were little more accurate
  • It gave me the ability to tune vocals without them sounding "autotuned," therefore, making the singer feel like they sang it that much better. Just a confidence booster.
  • It gives me the opportunity for simply mastering a song. If a customer only wants a song mastered, I can effectively do that.
  • It is a bit costly when you first purchase, but it makes up for itself when you need it. I feel like it was money well spent.
I use Waves in tandem with these products I listed. The other products, like the Fabfilter Bundle and the iZotope ozone bundle, weren't listed, so I can't really do a proper comparison. However, against the Fabfilter plugins, the only thing Waves lacks is as good of an EQ. As far as the iZotope bundle is concerned, the only thing it does better than Waves is the preset drum isolation stuff. That's pretty incredible. But mostly, the Izotope bundle are preset. I like my plugins to be tailored to exactly how I want to use them. Waves allows me to do that.

Do you think Waves delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Waves's feature set?

Yes

Did Waves live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Waves go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Waves again?

Yes

There really is no scenario that Waves could not be used well suited for a studio environment. For instance, when I have someone come over to record, I use waves tune realtime in post production. And it really helps just get the flat/sharp notes on key easily. And the Abbey Road collection!! WOW!!! It sounds so good! Also, I use the API and SSL on my master chain to give it that "polished" feel in the end.
