An excellent Data Protection Solution with plenty of features and benefits!!!!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Zscaler Data Protection has been deployed at our organization for the last 2 years, and it has been working drastically very smoothly. Our earlier data protection solutions were very limited and worked with slow connections. We were also unable to perform effectively against threat management for our endpoints. We would frequently complain about its slow connection. Also, it was a very complex solution for our IT department to maintain and manage. Now, with Zscaler Data Protection, our in-house IT manages it with zero effort, and it works well in our organization.

Pros

  • Fast Cloud based solution.
  • Secure On-Prem and Cloud environment.
  • Easy to manage and maintain.
  • User friendly UI.

Cons

  • Customer Support.
  • Product Awareness in local market.
  • Unavailability of On-Premises Model.
  • Pricing for the Cloud Model.

Return on Investment

  • Positive - Product reliability and effectivity.
  • Positive - Deployment and securing the environment.
  • Negative - Pricing are on higher side among the peers.
  • Negative - Customer Support has to be improve with skill engineers.

Zscaler Data Security Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have been using Zscaler Data Security for about 6 years or so. Our implementation could be described as advanced. We are leveraging a significant amount of in-line DLP rules with some being sent over to our Zscaler WA configuration. In addition, we monitor data at rest with the Zscaler CASB. Our Zscaler implementation helps our company secure our data from being uploaded to sites that are not business approved, and enables users to upload to the destinations that are approved for business use.

Pros

  • Continuous updates and improvement to the Data Security platform over the years
  • App integrations for Zscaler CASB

Cons

  • CASB configurations could be fleshed out to include a better method of exceptions for SharePoint exclusions to not be scanned
  • Easier implementation of the evaluate all DLP ruleset without having to completely disable the existing DLP config

Return on Investment

  • Decreased data loss based on our in-line configuration
  • Improved GenAI visibility

Zscaler Data Security Review.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We deploy Zscaler DLP web and endpoint, and are working to deploy Zscaler DSPM. We help clients protect their data in motion and improve their security posture.

Pros

  • Great dictionary of data types PII, PHI, PCI, etc.
  • Easy to deploy if you already have the ZIA infrastructure.

Cons

  • The DSPM feature requires CASB to fully function, which may price out clients who must buy multiple licenses to achieve the results a single DSPM vendor can provide. Example: To determine a file's age in SharePoint and whether it's past the retention period to enable data minimization, DSPM can't find it, but CASB can.

Return on Investment

  • for AI analysis of incidents, reduce manual effort to wade through false positives.
  • AI analysis for DLP ruleset improvements.

Pros

  • Zero access outside of allocated employee access points
  • Quick responses whenever need to troubleshoot

Cons

  • Pricing is quite high
  • Takes time to load customer profile/identity to provide secure access to files/data, I know I have access to

Return on Investment

  • Solid ROI from product but still in early stages of it being integrated in existing environment
