In our organization, we use Zscaler Data Protection for Inline
Pros
Custom DLP dictionaries
EDM
Cons
I think there is room for improvement in Zscaler Data Protection with Regex validator's
I think the Notifications in Zscaler Data Protection have room for improvement
Likelihood to Recommend
I think I am likely to recommend Zscaler Data Protection to a colleague because, in my experience, Zscaler Data Protection Policies are easy to manage and can be used across the different modules
INVISTA uses Zscaler Data Protection to grant access to specific applications where our critical data is housed. The business case is around ensuring that our intellectual property is protected in all forms and in all applications.
Pros
Remote Access
User specific access to data within applications via policy
INVISTA also hopes to leverage this to do microsegmentation
Cons
tenant to tenant connectivity
devices that are shared and may not always be tied to a single / specific user
play well or better with other app management tools like Intune
Likelihood to Recommend
Zscaler Data protection / Zscaler private access is great for remote worker scenarios where people will be running from, untrusted networks. Data protection is also very valuable for applications where we want to limit by identity those individuals that should even have access to the application.

We utilize this for DLP and to manage our data security posture. It provides a unified, single-pane DLP experience across our organization, making DLP policy management convenient. The tool is potent and offers many features. The future direction is also auspicious, as Zscaler moves away from legacy regex-based detection to leveraging large language models (LLMs) for more accurate, context-based detections.
Pros
DLP visibility, management, and response.
Visibility and Management of internal sensitive and/or dark data.
Automation workflow.
Cons
The DLP dictionary functions need to be expanded upon, such as matching all regex patterns with any phrases and vice versa. The only way to do this today is to create two dictionaries and then use an engine to combine them; however, this approach loses the ability to utilize proximity.
Regex does not support lookaheads.
Likelihood to Recommend
For a large company with lots of data it is a fantastic solution and much needed. This is probably not suited for very small organizations as it might be overkill. Organizations with lots of sensitive data such as PII, federal agencies or health care will greatly benefit from this product.

I use Zscaler to protect indexed and categorized apps through multiple protection channels—in-line, CASB, and Endpoint. I also utilize ZWA work workflow automation for DLP alerts.
Pros
Single Set of Dictionaries.
Easy Endpoint Deployment.
Single Console for DLP.
Cons
In my opinion, ZWA UI is UGLY.
Ability to check for watermarks.
Ability to use NOT rules (Anything that does NOT match this DLP Dictionary).
Likelihood to Recommend
Data protection is well-suited when the client is already utilizing ZIA and has CASB solutions set up, and is a more greenfield environment. It is challenging when coming from legacy DLP products with auditing requirements in place.

Is very cool.
Cons
It has no room for improvement; it is a perfect product.
In our organization, we use both the inline/web Zscaler Data Protection DLP and the endpoint DLP solutions. Our primary used case is to protect data classification tag protection.
Pros
Integration of DLP rules with ZIA
Cons
They need more apps support for endpoint DLP
Likelihood to Recommend
I think I am likely to recommend Zscaler Data Protection to a colleague because, in my experience, Zscaler Data Protection is Very well integrated across Zscaler Internet Access(ZIA) and other Zscaler platforms
