Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Firefly

As someone who needs to create design within strict and specific brand guideline, working with Adobe Firefly has been a constant challenge as it requires multiple attempts to understand my need. Even when the Adobe Firefly provides the closest outcome, I will have to manually manipulate and clean up the image, which takes longer lead time than working from scratch.

Pros

  • It generates large number of options for initial design exploration.
  • Exploration in prompting does show differences in understanding.
  • When using in illustrator, it creates vector outcome I can manipulate.

Cons

  • It cannot pick up the reference resource the way humans can.
  • It has limitation in understanding brand guidelines.
  • Prompting can be difficult for someone who does not speak English as first language.
  • I could see potential in resource reduction as Adobe Firefly can be used to generate initial design exploration.
  • If Adobe Firefly can work within template and guidelines, I could see potential in production hours.
  • Negative impact would be on the environment - use of energy in data center to improve machine learning should be considered.
The prompting itself and generate images tools are easy to use. It's just the outcome that's difficult to control.
I cannot make the comparison as they have completely different use cases.
