Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Elasticsearch Service
We use AWS Elastic to compile metadata options for products that have a lot of options on them, things like rugs with multiple sizes, colors, patterns, shapes, and so on. This helps us to create one source of truth that we can then call through the API to get the data back we need through a lightweight webservice call.
Pros
- Search
- Query language
- light-weight
Cons
- onboarding
- technical skills
- difficulty in learning language
- Observability
- Troubleshooting

Splunk is the most flexible of the 3 where you can manipulate the data to whatever fits your specific use case. Grafana has the most powerful capabilities but the steepest learning curve. Grafana also does offer the most flexibility as you can visualize almost any data source. Elastic is a solid middle ground between the 2.
