Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan

Anaplan is used for financial planing and reporting on budgets to department heads. We have 4 users actively modeling in Anaplan and around 25 users who access Anaplan to input and review their budgets. Anaplan is used for our revenue projections and to produce our forward looking income statement, balance sheet, and cashflow statement.
  • Anaplan provides a lot of flexibility in how to build your model. It has all of the calculation abilities that Excel has but can handle much more data.
  • Anaplan's use of lists and dimensions makes it easier to update a rolling financial plan using external data sources like our ERP, HRIS, and CRM.
  • The number of options for charts and graphs is substantially smaller than in Excel.
  • Pricing is space based so adding more to the model can come at a price.
Anaplan works well for companies looking to get off Excel into a more robust solution. The amount of data that can be processed all in one model is many times higher than in Excel. The formula language in Anaplan is relatively straight forward but it takes a long time to get completely comfortable, and some employees may push back on having to learn a new formula system.
