Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan
We currently use Anaplan as part of our forecasting and budgeting processes, as well as some peripheral finance planning use cases (such as long range planning). Anaplan is used regularly by the finance team on a quarterly cadence, for the above use cases. The planning itself takes place withing Anaplan, and is then integrated downstream with other reporting platforms.
Pros
- Auditability / traceability - formula drill downs and input hisotries
- Customization - It is an open box in terms of modeling
- Connectivity between models - Very easy to move data between Anaplan models, allowing for easier to scale connective planning
Cons
- Cube size limits - Unless using Polaris, it can be cumbersome to manage composite/concatenated lists to combat many (or large) dimensions
- No ALM for the UX - There does not exist a way to push app changes (without manually copying duplicates of pages and repointing them) from a Dev environment to a UAT/PROD environment. Any published changes will be displayed across any models they are connected to, with no Dev/UAT/PROD considerations.
- Planning process standardization
