Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan

I am an Anaplan solution architect and tackle a wide range of supply chain use cases with Anaplan for a wide range of clients across business industries. Typical business challenges relate to the application of the "Integrated Business Planning" (IBP) process and how Anaplan can support this process through it's connected planning system architecture. Typical areas of focus relate to demand planning, statistical forecasting capability, network optimisation and inventory planning.

Pros

  • Connected "End-to-End" planning across different business functions in a unified planning system.
  • Speed to value; ability to quickly configure the models to meet the changing business environment
  • Advanced modelling capability ensuring different business problems can be solved
  • Integration to other tool; great connectors to external tools like SAP, Salesforce, etc.

Cons

  • Templated solutions across other business functions (these are coming I believe)
  • Increasing forecast accuracy based on legacy planning tools
  • Increased collaboration between business functions (Sales and supply Chain)
Great user interface encourages users to interact with the tool. The flexibility of design ensure we can customise to the exact business need. Further customisation can be done through the "My Pages" capability.

Anaplan is very good at modelling complexity at scale. I'd recommend Anaplan for business at every scale of the maturity matrix with supply chain. I don't think it is best suited to all supply chain uses cases, like advanced production scheduling, but it can be connected to these tools and be a great central planning solution.
