Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloudability
I use Apptio Cloudability for the allocation of cloud costs, and managing engineering teams to budget.
Pros
- Custom Dashboards
- Cost Allocation
Cons
- Asset Inventory Reporting
- Policies to identify and notify on wasted resources
- Slack Integrations for team notifications
- Ability to determine wasted cloud resources
- Ability to chargeback costs per team
Apptio Cloudability better in every way than CloudHealth by VMware except asset inventory and CloudHealth Policies. Cloudability is definitely much more user friendly because it is easy to create your own dashboards.

Using IBM Cloudability
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Technical support not required Consistent Convenient Feel confident using Familiar | None |
- Hierarchical Business DImensions
- Automation via APIs
- Cost Allocation from multiple views
- Not every feature has an API endpoint
- Data refreshes are manual when updating dimensions
- Disconnect between Containers Insights and other cost reports
Yes - Reports are fine but dashboards are too small to see all the widgets in the way they are pre-configured. Mobile would work better if each widget gets its own line. But I only rarely use it on mobile so it's not a problem usually.
