Overall Satisfaction with Arena

We use Arena throughout the company and also are working on getting our suppliers to use it. It has helped us address a lot of our product life management issues. It makes it easier to reference different revisions of our products for troubleshooting purposes. It also gives us an easily referable change process.
  • Arena provides a centralized location for documentation the can be controlled.
  • It provides good revision control of our products.
  • It is customizable
  • Customer support is very helpful
  • The searching features can be confusing for the users not used to it.
  • Changes should be downloadable in different formats than PDF.
  • Would like to be able to be able to set ascending/descending order of certain info when importing BoMs.
  • This helped us with the quality of the product by making records convenient for review.
  • Arena makes it easier to record feedback from subject matter experts on new proposed product.
  • It makes scrubing the BoMs more convenient and lets us find more available/cheaper components.

  • Product Usability
We were looking for a way to track product revisions and engineering changes. I think the product usability was the most important. This is a relatively easy system to implement and it provided what we essentially needed for moving the Business forward. Most of the people that need to use the system were trained quickly.
The implementation process was not that easy but with the support we received from Arena it went fairly smooth. It was a little late on the implementation but not that bad. The team was very helpful and were willing to answer any questions we had. I think one of the things that would have made the process smoother is to have all of what you want out of the PLM system in place and then use Arena around completing your objectives.

I would suggest this product for small to medium size companies that need to use revision control on their products. I would also say that it is well suited for people looking to perform engineering changes because it provides an approval process that is easily traceable.

It is not suitable if you have a lot of people that need to see the info because licenses are expensive. It is also hard to implement a lot of the features if you don't have a higher end license for everyone involved.
