Best Data Management solution!
Overall Satisfaction with Autodesk Vault
I am supporting almost 200 users in using Autodesk Vault 2026. We have different office around the world and that means there are different challenges. Some users use Autodesk Vault to check in and out documents, others only to view files. We need to replicate the software to all these offices and so far we are very successful.
Pros
- managing documents
- copying files from existing to new ones
- searching through the data
Cons
- more searching capabilities
- creating reports
- using the software in the cloud
- tracking versions and revisions
- managing data regarding users
- copying documents and maintaining the relationships
- since using Vault we dont deal with location of files
- files are backed up automatically
- Backing up data could be improved
We never used any other data management software before Autodesk Vault. The other software that Autodesk provides and we use, like Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Autocad, Autodesk Navisworks and others are very fit with Autodesk Vault. It cannot be any other better solution than using Autodesk Vault as they are fully correlated.

Evaluating Autodesk Vault and Competitors
- Integration with Other Systems
- Ease of Use
It is designed around familiar CAD workflows rather than generic document management, all users learn it fast and it's easy to remember how to use it for those that don't access it daily. It works very well with several other Autodesk products that we already use. Because it mirrors real engineering processes, users don’t have to “translate” their work into a new system.
I would have done it again, we and all our users are very happy with using Autodesk Vault. It has been more than 10 years since we implement it and right now, it is replicated to all our offices. We don't have to keep documents on local servers anymore which made it difficult to be shared with others that don't have access to it.
Autodesk Vault Support
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support cares about my success | Slow Initial Response |
I did not purchase premium support as we do not need it in our company. The software itself is highly rated for its data management capabilities and often does not require it. Acquiring Premium support for Autodesk vault is a strategic choice for businesses with 10 or more users if local support is not there.
Yes - All bugs that I reported to Autodesk, within several software were resolved in a matter of time, depending on Autodesk needs. Sometimes they were resolved and implemented in a new release of software or including it in a hot fix. Will be great and very useful if others would report their issues.
Several years ago, my company had issues with migration of Autodesk Vault from an old version to the current one. One good example of how Autodesk support helped us was during a complex server migrations in 2013. For many engineering firms, moving a "mistake-sensitive" Vault database to a new server can be a high-stakes project that risks significant downtime. We had small issues but with Autodesk's help all migration went very well.

Yes - You can view 2D and 3D designs (supporting over 100 file formats) and perform simple or advanced searches, including QR and barcode scanning to quickly find specific data. Users can check non-CAD files (like Word or Excel) in and out, and even upload new files, photos, or videos directly from their mobile device. You can also approve and sign documents, participate in Change Orders, and change file lifecycle states.
