Overall Satisfaction with AWS Cloud9
We use [AWS] Cloud9 as an online IDE. It allows us to make code changes online and publish those changes. Developers can create their own workspaces and manage them online as well. It is currently being used by [the] services dept. for making changes to python scripts. We are going to be expanding its use to other programming languages. Over all it reduces the IT and development time and hence the costs. The code can be shared with other developers with ease.
- Simulates the terminal with linux commands
- Allows parallel development with various developers
- Debugging code
- Java/other languages debugging should be supported
- Moving environment from one instance to another can be made more user friendly
- Centralized IDE which does not require developers to download and mantain IDE
- Code collaboration between developers
- Coding with just a browser
- AWS Cloud9 has a positive impact on the ROI in that the org. does not have to invest in another IDE like pycharm
- [AWS] Cloud9 has browser based IDE so onboarding developers is quite easy
- Code collaboration is great
[AWS] Cloud9 offers specific features not available in the competition: Code collaboration using the chat features is the highlight which sets it apart. [The] code completion feature makes [it] very similar to the offline IDE like eclipse. It's much easier to use compared to Codeanywhere. It provides terminal access to EC2 instances and hence other amazon services.
