Overall Satisfaction with Cisco 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 1000)
We primarily use the Cisco ASR 1001-X Router is a small form factor, high horsepower platform for distribution of routing information within our network. It's extremely feature-rich for its size and offers a good 'pay as you grow' model of scalability as our usage of this model expands throughout our network.
Pros
- Small form factor
- Strong CPU/horse power
- Scalable deployment model
Cons
- Not running IOS-XR, so OS is a bit dated.
- License changes can be painful to implement.
- Licensing can be expensive.
- Form factor
- CPU power
- Expandable licensing
- Replaced legacy gear
- Freed up rack space with smaller form factor.
- Future proof our network for future expansion.
