Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 8000 Edge Platforms

It is very much an SDWAN platform to our global offices. The high end models of 8500 are of an addition for our higher throughput sites. It does what is expected. We haven't seen any real problems on the platform point of view.

Pros

  • sdwan
  • performance with reduced footprint
  • 8500 platform supporting 40/100 Gig on WAN

Cons

  • could have had better drom
  • software for sdwan is with issues, otherwise as a platform it does what it is suppose to.
  • sdwan
  • we performed the technology change w.r.t our hardware refresh.
There isn't any other product which supports SDWAN other than legacy ISR4K.

SDWAN - is what we use for. However it can be used for non-sdwan services as well . Like internet edge.
