Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Center

We use this product to monitor our network for errors and to create network maps for our wireless access points. We also use it for software distribution. It creates backups of our network devices and ensures that we have a handle on EOX software and hardware. We have been using it for about 3 years.

Pros

  • Config backups.
  • AP maps.
  • EOX reports.

Cons

  • Performance
  • User interface.
  • Install/Setup experience.
  • Slower to get things done than its predecessor , Prime.
  • Requires far more hardware than its predecessor, Prime.
  • Has more features but they are needlessly complex to use.
  • I feel the UI is a total mess.
None really, the solution worked well and did not require much effort to set up and maintain. Client-side internet connection troubles were about the only issues we had when deploying this solution. Its very simple to configure and use. It's one of my favorite Cisco tools, I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs this sort of solution.
We did not really have any challenges when using this product.
It was an easy setup and a relatively easy to support product. The interface is clean and simple and the backend setup was a breeze.

Progress WhatsUp Gold, Cisco Prime LAN Management (discontinued)
In my opinion, the Catalyst Center is far too overpriced for what it provides; the recurring costs and high hardware requirements are really excessive for what we are getting out of the software. Many of the features it has are needlessly complex to accomplish, and the performance is awful on a good day. It does, however, grab the backups we need and provide us with EOX reports for our hardware and software.
