Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Center

We use Cisco Catalyst Center to manage and monitor our network devices (switches, wireless controler and access points) in our SDA environment. It helps us quickly see device status, detect issues, and apply updates across the network.
Cisco Catalyst Center speeds up troubleshooting and makes network management more efficient. For our team, it reduces manual work and allows us to respond fasted when problems occur. Overall, it gives us a clear view of the entire network.

Pros

  • Software image management
  • Port assignments and configuration changes
  • Device monitoring and alerts

Cons

  • Third-party integration
  • Reporting
  • User interface
  • Faster software updates and upgrades
  • Simplified network management
  • Faster troubleshooting

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Center delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Center's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Center live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Center go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Center again?

Yes

Very well usited for managin a large SDA deployment with many switches and access points. For example, we use it to quickly roll out software updates across multiple devices at once, assing ports consistently, and monitor device health and performance (it can really speed up the troubleshooting process).

I'd say it is less appropriate for smaller environments, where direct device management could be enough and they don't need all Catalyst Center features.

Using Cisco Catalyst Center

3 - The three users are part of our IT/network team. We are responsible for network operations, monitoring, torubleshooting and overall infrastructure management. Catalyst Center is mainly used for day-to-day network visibility, configuration management and helping us maintain stable and secure campus environment. We have an SD-Access deployed, so it is essential for managing the fabric, policies, and segmentation.
2 - In our case, with SD-Access deployed, supporting Cisco Catalyst Center needs network engineers who know routing, switching and wireless well. They also need to understand SD-Access fabric, segmentation and policies. Good troubleshooting skills help, and it’s useful to know automation and basic network security. Hands-on experience with daily tasks is important too.
  • Day-to-day network monitoring and visibility across our network
  • Managing SD-Access fabric, policies, and segmentation
  • Troubleshooting issues quickly and tracking changes in the network
  • Use it to plan network changes more safely and efficiently.
  • Improve reporting and analytics for better decision-making.
  • Integrate with other tools for end-to-end network visibility.
  • Integrate with Cisco Spaces for client location visibility.
Catalyst Center works very well with our SD-Access deployment. It helps us manage the fabric, policies, and segmentation more easily, gives clear visibility across the entire network, and makes troubleshooting much faster. It also supports planning changes, tracking important trends, and improving overall efficiency and reliability for our day-to-day network operations.
