Cisco Catalyst IE3100 Rugged Series Switches review
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst IE3100 Rugged Series Switches
We utilize these types of switches for our many substations out in the field. These types of switches are really rugged and can withstand temperatures above 100 degrees and under negative 0. They also can withstand a lot of sand and many other elements that we are usually facing on a day to day basis.
Pros
- They can stand high temperatures
- Solid product
- Support is quick and easy
Cons
- Price is a little high for some customers
- Power supplies are different
- Power supply would make it easier if it was included
- They last years
- End of life is really short lived
- Really reliable
- Cisco 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR 9000)
These switches are suitable for small but weather intensive situations. Compared to the Cisco 9000 series these do perfect if you do not need a big amount of ports. We used the 9000 series in certain substations, but they are overkill. I have also seen a better performance compared to the 9000 series with the weather.
