Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

BC Systems began our NIST 800-171 Cybersecurity Assessment in 2020 which is required by all DoD contractors. We hired a local consultant to guide us through the process and address any issues we may face along the way. Our first task was to replace any outdated hardware on our network with more reliable secure equipment. They recommended we purchase several Cisco Catalyst Switches and run new cable for the best outcome. We have been online for months now and are completely satisfied with the improved performance we see on our network. No dropout, which was a big problem on our old network, and no workstation connection issues. I am glad we made the upgrade.
  • Reliability - No dropout between workstation and server
  • PoE - Useful in many areas of our building where power is lacking
  • Easy to use GUI - For metrics, analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Licensing costs are something to be considered
  • Increased company wide productivity
  • Reduced drain on personnel and resources due to connection issues
  • Component of our DoD Cybersecurity compliance
Our IT consultant was tasked with the design and implementation of our system. I can see why they chose to use Cisco hardware. They spend their time installing the equipment and not figuring out why it isn't working the way they expected it to. Once the network was up and running, we have not needed them to correct any issues. That's what we pay for, and it's worth it to just set it and forget it.
We also purchased 350-48FP-4G. They work in a similar fashion.

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Switches delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Switches's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

I can't think of any situation where you would not want to use this type of Cisco Catalyst switch. Once installed, it did not take long to see a company-wide improvement in throughput. By comparison, our old system seemed to have a choke, it was slow. The upfront cost for the hardware and management will pay for itself through increased productivity. We should have realized this years ago and made the update to our equipment.
