Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
- Catalyst 3850 Series
- Catalyst 9200 Series
- Catalyst 9300 Series
Wired user access for user devices or wireless antennas in a campus environment. High-density ports also provide reliable POE to a number of building automation devices. I prefer the individual/stackable switches in the building TRs/ IDFs and have chassis models for distribution and core. So far, I find the Cisco Catalyst Switches to be a reliable product.
- POE
- Switch stacking
- Reliability
- Time from power up to forwarding traffic
- Prevent power cord from disconnecting over time or being bumped out
- Ease of iOS upgrades
- Scaling
- Longevity
- Staff already trained to support
We have often purchased lower-end switches from Cisco, which do not offer advanced features. However, we do now have DNA Center and know how to use the tools to better set up and manage our network environment. Time will tell on this issue as we progress in our Cisco installations.
None - I have always worked in Cisco shops because that is the equipment I personally prefer to work in. I changed jobs from one Cisco shop to another as my expertise is mainly in Cisco technologies.
