Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 3650 Series
  • Catalyst 3850 Series
Cisco Catalyst Switches are being used by our organization as a stable and fundamental part of our Network Infrastructure. From the base level of supporting our internal office by managing VLANs and distributing network connectivity, to on-site deployments wherein we need to set up branch and satellite sites to continue business operations and/or deploy for customers, be it either a permanent solution as a ramp-up or for site build-outs.
  • Reliability
  • Compatibility
  • Secure
  • Industry standard in terms of corporate networking
  • Cost to feature set
  • Longer end of life and support
  • + Industry Standard
  • + Secure and Manageable
  • + Full Vendor Support
  • - Needs more "lower end tiers" for some sections of the market
It has benefitted us immensely, as they easily integrate with our organization's infrastructure. Additional rack and stack deployments go through a breeze with minimal hiccups, if any. We have full control of the feature set that we need and enable, as well as control over the feature set (s) that we need to disable if not used at the moment.

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

Yes

As previously mentioned, we use them in both ways - internal and external. Internally, this has always been our choice of switching as it has become the industry standard in corporate networks and deployments. We have always utilized the amazing feature set and capabilities of Cisco switches as we have found them to be reliable (rarely breaks, hardware-wise) and feature-rich with included IOS updates for necessary patches and upgrades. Externally, we have the same benefits with the added bonus of it being easily deployable on customer premises as more often than not, they are utilizing the same technology (make and sometimes model, even).
