Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We've been using Cisco Catalyst Switches for almost 20 years now and rely on them for their performance, reliability and allow us to reduce support costs using a standard platform (regardless the model of the switch). The also allow easy expansion if we require more ports.

Pros

  • Standard command set
  • Adding additional switch to a stack is easy and simple
  • Integrates with other vendor hardware without needing special cables or devices

Cons

  • Rebooting the switches take a lot longer since the move to IOS XE
  • Cost of equipment or ongoing support
  • Cisco Catalyst Switches are reliable and rarely fail so ROI is worth the investment
  • Ongoing Cisco support is expensive compared to other vendors
  • Cisco DNA Center
  • Cisco Catalyst Switches
  • Cisco Aironet and Catalyst Access Points
On prem access needed to be reliable even for users who were working remotely. This allowed for both on and off site support for the equipment easily.
Cisco WLC's integrate seamlessly with the switches to provide a simple setup and end to end solution.
