Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
We currently use Cisco Catalyst Switches C9300 series for our distribution and edge deployments. We use the Cisco Catalyst Switches C9500 series for our core setup. These have been extremely useful. Stacking has been extremely helpful in both the data and power uses. We have had power outages that affected some power supplies but the stack stayed online due to the power stack ring. Management has been extremely easy as well as deployment. The Cisco Catalyst Switches have even been deployed in harsh environements where they have continued to work without fail.
Pros
- Data and power stacking
- Throughput
- modularity
- management
- deployment
Cons
- Expense
- multigig ports being standard
- further efficiency
- Ease of deployment
- Throughput improvement
- support for POE+ end points
Cisco Catalyst Switches have been more reliable than the Ruckus switches I have worked with in the past. The stacking is much more reliable. Issues have been able to be resolved much quicker. Additionally, support being provided has been out of this world. Overall I would rate the Cisco Catalyst Switches much higher than the Ruckus ICX Switches.
