Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Duo
As far as the security aspect goes, it's probably one of our more important products in general, just because obviously multifactor authentication protects us from malicious actors who get credentials but don't have the physical token to get into someone's account. So when I say we use it every day, we use it for authentication across every application we use or at least we try to, that is our goal.
Pros
- So outside the obvious of multifactor and it being important, one thing I really like about DUO is the integrations and the options it has for integrations are pretty great. And I'd say versatile. I use Cisco ICE as well and I find I'm more most impressed with Cisco Duo specifically with the weird applications we could come up with for it in using it. So I had say the versatility of authentication and other AAA factors with the Cisco duo are why we like it so much.
Cons
- I know it's a tough question, but I don't have anything directly that I would complain about.
- It's one of those things that only costs money in the sense of you have to convince a leadership team to spend money to save money, right? Like a compromise is far more expensive than duo paying for duo. So specifically it's really just about trying to prevent problems. And so while it costs money and we don't have a direct return on investment that we can point out immediately, I would still always advocate for it just because it keeps security. Paying for security is cheaper than getting compromised essentially.
- The Okta Identity Cloud
I would fully expect a competitor like Okta or any other multifactor mechanic to function pretty similarly, and I hesitate to say duos the best. I think the idea is that it's a simple concept, but it does it well. So I haven't evaluated any myself outside of duo, but I'm also not in the market and I don't feel like we need to go shopping for something else.
