Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches Review
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches
Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches are the backbone of our hosting operations. The main feature we utilize is the VPC, allowing us to have redundancy and fast convergence for endpoints like servers and storage arrays. We are currently working on redesigning the hosting data center into a leaf-spine infrastructure using Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches. The switches are robust, offer great troubleshooting capabilities, fast convergence, and ISSU upgrades.
Pros
- VPC provides flexibility and redundancy
- ISSU allows for hitless upgrades, removing the need for downtime
- Robust troubleshooting information available through show commands
Cons
- Continued hardware evolution of the chassis line
- Support for more port types
- Expand VPC domains over more than 2 switches
- Reduced downtime by using ISSU
- Reduced downtime by setting end devices in VPC
- Reduced troubleshooting time for network events
The ability to add line cards, upgrade the SUP, change the line cards to accommodate more port types as end devices need more bandwidth.
