Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Routers

  • Cisco ISR 4000 Series
  • Cisco CSR 1000V Series
  • Cisco ASR 1000 Series
With the flexibility of ISR routers, they are being used throughout my organization for a number of uses. We use them for voice, branch office, WAN edge, cloud edge, and other things.
  • Route with various routing protocols
  • Provide services such as DHCP
  • Large number of connectivity options for about any kind of WAN connection
  • Can be buggy at times
  • Licensing can get confusing
  • The large number of services allow them to be used in about any scenario, they can easily be moved from one role to another.
I don't think there's any instance where a Cisco router would not work with another Cisco device.
We don't currently use the security features on the router, outside of AAA for management.
The different protocols and services on the Cisco Routers make it easier to automatically divert traffic around failures, depending on the design, which greatly increases network uptime.
Well suited in about any instance depending on the model you use, except for end device connectivity.
