Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a dealership selling products and services to the trucking community, document generation is critical to our business. We need to generate documents to email or print for our potential and existing customers and part of the sales process beyond our four walls. Once a truck sells, our customers need to be able to take the paperwork to the state and finalize ownership with as few potholes as possible.

Pros and Cons

Pros

It can generate a document.
You can email that document.
You can print the document.

Cons

Modifying templates is on par with going to the dentist for a root canal. It's worse.
Time out issues.
Any update to the tool require code.

Return on Investment

In my experience time out is a huge negative.
Not easily updated is a huge negative.
Adding new templates is also painful and complicated.

Ease of Use

This tool is not nearly as easy to use as it could or should be. I give it a three because I feel some scenarios work for us, but mainly, they are few and far between, and they could be significantly better. From what this tool SHOULD be able to do vs what it does, this is -10.

Automated Workflow

In my experience, it keeps us updated and manual. I can't get the support I need to understand creating new documents or updating existing ones. It seems like Conga has likely gutted its support model. Which is fine, but when the solution to issues is to spend more money, you're likely to lose customers.

Based on my experience, Conga Composer was probably a great tool at some point. But the tool doesn't seem to have changed with the times or improved significantly. When creating bigger bundles of docs, time-out issues are likely, and if you need to update a template, be prepared that you're pulling at a very complicated string. Additionally, support is available at a cost; however, they likely won't be helpful.
