Overall Satisfaction with Control-M

We currently use Control-M for Operational automation jobs. Data movement from Point A to Point B and Daily Operation Center tasks. We have mission critical jobs that run every min throughout the morning hours. We are a small shop right now running around 500 jobs daily

Pros

  • Scheduling. It has a very robust scheduler
  • User Interface is very friendly

Cons

  • Tie in to Beyond Trust for MFT
  • o365 LDAP integration (unless already been done in 21.3)
  • But it is used in several mission critical applications for moving data for our finance systems and Sports betting systems.

4 - Data warehouse and Enterprise Analytics. We are actually in the beginning stage of training them so it is not production yet. I am the only other person that uses Control-M right now and I handle all 3 aspects. Maintaining the back end systems, Writing the scrips, Scheduling the jobs and monitoring the jobs as well. We are expanding to include other departments soon
I have used several other companies Enterprise Schedulers. It is by far the more user friendly interface and functionality than the others. I can quickly train others to use the product in a single day (General monitoring).
Control-M by far is the leader in this industry. The ease of use of the product and the ability to get others up to speed on using the product because of this is great.

Control-M is really good at data movement using the MFT. But we would not use it for any type of system monitoring as there are other products more suited for that.
