Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In our company we have several different teams that often share credentials between themselves. Dashlane helps facilitate this by allowing us to set up groups in the software which passwords are then shared to. Dashlane also helps us enforce security standards for password management by requiring users to use passwords that meet certain levels of criteria. It also speeds up general user experiences by retaining passwords for users.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Retains and organizes passwords.
Creation and management of groups and password sharing.
Dark web monitoring of credentials.

Cons

The software will often mix up some of the passwords we use on sites that have similar addresses.
Some users have complained that the interface is confusing.
We build web forms within a web-based application. The software does not do a good job of ignoring fields on those forms and tries to auto-populate information into them while we are building them.

Quicker and easier onboarding through group sharing of credentials.
Better security policy enforcement.
Better risk assessment and management when it comes to online credentials.

Usability

We have only used the built-in password management in Chrome before. Dashlane is a more built-out product compared to that. It has several features like autogenerating passwords, group management, and dark web monitoring that the standard password management in a web browser does not have. Overall, its usability is pretty similar to Chrome, although some end users complained about issues with understanding how Dashlane works.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane is probably well suited for small companies with different teams collaborating in the same environment. One area that I would caution potential users about, however, is if they work as web form designers. The software can become a hassle in those environments because it injects some HTML code into your form.
