Overall Satisfaction with Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room

We use Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room primarily to access the Target company's confidential data that's helpful to perform diligence. One major advantage I noticed while using Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room is the Q&A section. I never had the comfort of getting the minor questions answered instantly in other VDR websites. We generally communicate via request lists, but this is a lot easier in getting quick responses.

Pros

  • Quick preview of document content is something I love! It lets me decide whether the file is relevant to our purposes or not instantly.
  • Navigating through the folders is also very easy, and the website is also responsive without any lag/stutter.
  • Although I don't use the feature due to confidentiality reasons, quick translate option is a really great addition to the tool.
  • Many datarooms can only show excel documents as PDFs for a quick preview. I like the way Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room has Excel online handler to view the file. This is so helpful!

Cons

  • Major feature I noticed in other datarooms that's missing in Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room is bulk download feature. I can select multiple files/folders under a parent folder, however, I would like to be able to download selected files/folders from among multiple folders.
  • Another feature I'd love to see is a "New*" menu item in Q&A, just like we have in the Documents section correctly. I know I can still use the date to filter the latest answered questions, but having the "New" option makes it a lot easier to do a quick filter. My idea is that this option will show all activity that I haven't looked at since my last login, irrespective of date.
  • Unfortunately, I do not have the actual figures, however, I did notice majority of my clients prefer using Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room as their VDR. I guess that's how I know the tool is very popular across organisations.
It's mainly due to the ease of navigation I've had using Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room when compared to other data rooms. All information I need is only a few clicks away. And like I mentioned earlier, the quick preview of documents saved hours of my time. And of course, the tree folder view to the left, which is collapsible.
There are many comparable features across these products, and I've also seen Intralinks, SnartRoom and Venue improve at the same pace as Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room does. However, I still feel that the basic navigation and combing through index list, Q&A etc., is a lot easier in Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room. I've grown to like the revamped SmartRoom interface as well. It is now closer to my overall Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room experience!

My organisation supports SSO login to Datasite Diligence Virtual Data Room which prevents login credentials from getting shared among team members. I really like this feature! Another thing I'd like to call out - the M&A newsletter emails that are invaluable. I receive just the right number of emails so it doesn't feel like spam, and the information is also specific to my region!
