Overall Satisfaction with DBeaver
Its really great to view and manage data in development, staging, and even production databases. DBeaver supports any SQL database nicely, we are using three different kinds of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL server) and I don't need multiple database client tools since all of them could be handled with DBeaver. By doing that, I save a lot of time and PC resources viewing all of the databases we have, which is really great.
- Support a lot of popular database types.
- Support SSH tunneling so you could connect to the production database quite easily.
- Supports inline editing which is very convenient. Also, you need to click "save" for inline editing to avoid miss clicks or miss typing on the production database.
- No support for NoSQL databases.
- The interface could be confusing for first-time users.
- No support for multiple queries in one editor.
- Using one tool for all types of databases really helps with PC resources maintenance, no more out of resources caused by opening three different database management tools.
- Support for SSH tunneling with both password and SSH key means that we don't need to connect to the server manually. We can also use CLI database management tools to do anything in the production server.
MySQL workbench from MySQL only supports MySQL databases and it only provides basic functionality. On top of that, the user experience could be quite confusing for first-time users. SSMS from SQL server doesn't support inline editing nicely. The view for inline editing and view data is different, making it uncomfortable to use. All in all, DBeaver is the best tool when you manage a lot of databases with different types.
