Overall Satisfaction with Episerver Content Cloud

The entire web team used EPiServer at the company I worked for. It was their preferred CMS for their production environment.
  • Organization
  • Speed
  • Usability
  • I found that the upload feature was rather tedious. I was responsible for uploading around 500 pictures, by myself. There were ways to upload more than one photo at a time, but in our case we needed to categorize photos in different areas, and so that became tedious. Uploading photos in groups at a time, rather than all at once.
  • I think the user interface could stand to have a friendlier design. More communication within the CMS itself, directed back to the user. Similar to WordPress.
  • Efficiency has been a positive. There are numerous modules that can be setup for ease of use during a build.
  • A lot of times developers already had specific page structures/templates created, and I was able to fill in that page with core information within minutes.
  • Drupal,WordPress
EpiServer competes with both Drupal and WordPress, hands-down, in terms of both efficiency as well as usability. I would say EpiServer is actually a lot easier to use than Drupal was for me personally. EpiServer wasn't confusing like Drupal, and had an easier learning curve.
EpiServer is well suited for any large organization, even those businesses where daily deployments may top hundreds of pages. I can't see a scenario where EpiServer wouldn't be appropriate. In our organization, we used various modules where it was easy to drop in bits of HTML, as well as SEO which made our jobs much easier.

Using Episerver Content Cloud

My familiarity with the product is the primary reason for my decision. As well, EpiServer can only improve over time. I think the few issues that I had with it can be addressed over time. From my perspective, one can already build pages within EpiServer just as fast as you can within WordPress. There are always ways to further perfect that part of EpiServer's efficiency, and if that happens, EpiServer can shine even more.
