Overall Satisfaction with EveryAction

Our fundraising team uses EA the most, but other departments also use it to track activists, do email campaigns, etc. Our first priority in choosing a new database a few years ago was excellent donor management.
  • The customer service is fabulous!
  • EA is constantly updating things, fixing things, adding new features--love that.
  • It's very user-friendly and intuitive.
  • We love how much data we can pull from EA: donor records, giving history, activist email responses, etc.
  • It drives us crazy that entries are duplicated between "contact history" and "notes." Contact history entries show up in the notes section as well, so the notes section gets almost impossible to use (too much info). They are separate categories. We'd like to see (for example) a donor phone visit in Contact History, and a note about their giving preferences in Notes.
  • We don't like how often they create dupes. A donor of 20 years can give via a new email, and a new record is created. Even if the name, address and phone are all the same. New fundraisers might see it and think it's a first time donor which is not good. It also takes staff time to constantly be de-duping. To be fair: The de-dupe process is efficient. And I understand that accidentally combining records of 2 different people would be very problematic!
  • I'd like the autofill to be a little more intuitive. If I'm looking up a donor and I enter "Burry," but the donor is "Bury," EA doesn't give me the option of names that are similar to my search. It's a minor issue, though.
  • Time saved. Our old system was a nightmare and we spent hours trying to make it work.
  • Improved fundraising--we're more efficient now, and it's easier for our team to work together to make sure our donors are getting everything need from us.
  • Organization efficiency: Other departments (campaigns, marketing) can use the same system now instead of all of us using different databases.
I wasn't in charge of implementing it but I worked with the person who was. It took a lot of work, of course, but the tutorials and customer service from EA were great.
EA has been so consistently available that I didn't even think about this issue until you asked the question! Every once in a while there's a planned outage for updates/work, but we always get advance notice and they're never at inconvenient times. Otherwise EA has been great. Always up and working.
It's made it easier to track who responds and who doesn't, for both advocacy and fundraising. We're better able to choose lists of people to contact based on their past responses (or lack of). We're better able to personalize fundraising appeals and do A/B testing.

EA is cheaper than Blackbaud, has better customer service, and meets all of our needs.
It's an excellent system for fundraising departments! We're a small nonprofit and could never have afforded the big companies (Blackbaud, etc.). But we're very happy with EA. I don't miss Blackbaud now that we have EA. It makes it easy to track donor giving and history, to send out email campaigns, to pull reports with all the info you need to refine your fundraising.
