Overall Satisfaction with F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect

Help clients to address connectivity of applications across multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments. Specifically helps with consistency and simplicity in deployments without sacrificing resiliency and choice.

Pros

  • Provides a sometimes critical solution to security, protected paths for traffic.
  • Provides low level (infrastructure level networking) when needed.
  • Provides the ground work for higher level application features and security to be layered on later.

Cons

  • Cleanup of offering names, and organization in portal for usage can help with client adoption and understanding.
  • More validated designs and guidance on recommended practices in the public.
  • Archives uptime
  • Accelerates implementation of services
  • Empowers new business opportunity
Good performance has been reported. More network on-ramps (for lower latency) would always be helpful.
Not super easy to sell or scope, this could be improved. Deploying once purchased is challenging but this category of product will always be challenging. Overall slightly better experience than similar products from other vendors.
  • Cloudflare
  • Akamai Enterprise Application Access
Similar, very similar to both. The main difference has been existing relationships with F5 as a partner and future potential for layering on future advanced services on top later. Often a difficult sell initially as both competitors have larger networks, but often can outclass Akamai in terms of capabilities, when against Cloudflare it is most difficult when no existing relationship exists to not consider Cloudflare's larger footprint.

Do you think F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect's feature set?

Yes

Did F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect again?

Yes

This is best suited whenever a client is looking to ensure consistent, secure delivery with multiple locations involved (on-premise private clouds, public cloud environments from different vendors). Especially when multiple traffic types are present and Network level protection is required (L3/L4 DDoS). But even when simply working to provide more manageable (simplified) ingress strategy for a larger ingress footprint, with design goals of more optimization down the road (more/possible east-west rather than only north-south traffic patterns).
