Overall Satisfaction with F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall)

We are converting all of our external facing HTTP(s) applications to have a WAF in blocking mode.

Pros

  • Not having to select technologies has made things much easier for us when we are working with application teams
  • Pretty graphs/charts/reports to share with leadership

Cons

  • Some kind of automated testing we can run that will catch certain WAF hits. Maybe hey hack can do this?
  • Increased use of WAF
  • Better reporting
We have only focused on AWS for now but we are planning to expand F5 Distributed Cloud WAF usage to GCP, Azure, and other cloud environments.
Yes - Not yet but we are working on it.

No

Did F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall) live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall) go as expected?

No

Would you buy F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall) again?

Yes

We are planning on using F5 Distributed Cloud WAF or anything public internet facing. We also have a large use case for traffic going between our IT and OT networks. These are highly protected networks that are NOT allowed to interact with internet based resources. It would be nice if we could somehow have WAF protections without needing internet access.
