Use Cases and Deployment Scope

To host the jombay application codebase and collaboration with the team.
Developers fork the repos and send Pull Requests for merging code

Pros and Cons

Works really well
UI is simple and aligns a lot with GitHub
Its pretty Fast

Nothing major as such

Return on Investment

Helped us quickly setup our codebase on a self manager server on AWS
No limit of number of repos was important for us since GitHub at that time had a limit of 5 private repos per user

Alternatives Considered

GitHub

GitHub seems more evolved now and GitLab is falling behind in terms of the features and the ecosystem, in my opinion.

We haven't used paid plan yet

Continuous Integration

We deployed webhooks to trigger jenkins deployments from GitLab code push. This helped in running a smooth CI process for all our code.

GitLab has features and pricing structures for all types of use cases under DevSecOps domain. Pricing is slightly on a higher side though if you go with the Premium and Ultimate plans
