Overall Satisfaction with Google Cloud SQL
Google Cloud SQL acts as a relational database for our use case. We needed to keep the website users data with the transactions they had done for subscriptions and keeping the history of the activites done by the user
Pros
- Scaling when having peak traffic during campaigns
- Leverage the different flavours of DBs
- Monitoring the sql queries ran on the db
Cons
- If a DB instance is created using private connections, this cannot be modified. This creates a issue when testing
- Way to get the username and password after instance creation
- Accessing the sql instance through private vpc connection can be made more clear
- Reduced maintanence overhead
- Ease of use
- Good monitoring, logging and observability
- Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), Google Cloud Spanner and Google BigQuery
Kind of similar features provided against RDS. Used this because of transactional db
