Overall Satisfaction with Google PageSpeed Insights
As Google pivots toward a mobile-first and UX-based search algorithm, it has become increasingly important to focus on the speed of your website to rank organically. Google doesn't want to forward people to slow sites, so the faster your site paints content and is readable, the better search score you'll get from Google. PageSpeed Insights are invaluable here, as it gives you the same score that Google uses to judge your website. Better yet, it shows you exactly what is slowing down your speed and bringing down your score so that you can go in and fix the offending section.

I've never used any software beyond PageSpeed Insights and Google Lighthouse (the source of the PAgeSpeed Insights software.) I've used similar programs like Hummingbird for WordPress that pulls the same data using the same engine, but its really the only game in town as far as I'm concerned.
