Overall Satisfaction with Heartland Payroll

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Heartland for all divisions. We utilize the payroll and employee onboarding products. It helps keep all documents in one secure location and allows our employees to access their pay stubs at any time.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Onboarding: their secure platform allows employees to upload sensitive documents to a safe location.
Payroll processing: it's a very easy platform to navigate through.
Personal communication: I have one rep who I have direct communication with.

Cons

If I need to calculate the net amount for a check, it's a difficult process.

Return on Investment

The price has been great. It was much cheaper than the other company we used (starts with an A).
The onboarding has been a big time-saver. Positive ROI for that!
Having a separate login for my CPA firm has been another big time-saver! The other company we used didn't offer that.

Alternatives Considered

I like the personal communication with my own rep, the onboarding, the price, and the additional login for CPA. None of these were offered with the payroll company we used prior to Heartland Payroll.

Support Rating

I never have trouble reaching customer support. They always are able to assist with fixing any problems that arise. There honestly haven't been many issues at all. Only ones I've created :)

Because we're a small business, I can't tell if Heartland Payroll is appropriate for a larger operation. For a small business, it's like having your own HR department. You can place an ad, accept resumes, and hire directly through their Heartland Hires platform. This is perfect for a small company like ours. For a larger company, it may not be robust enough.
