Overall Satisfaction with IBM Apptio
My team uses Apptio as a show back model to promote cost transparency to teams within my companys tech department. I look over general costs of the sub departments within tech, and the sub departments have their own teams that look into more granular details. This helps us model costs.
Pros
- model reporting and out of the box reports
- lineage components - ensuring that everything can be traced back to related models for the users
- datalink and the breadth of sources it can connect to
Cons
- tab functionality - moving things around
- different variants of charts that model data, closer to excels functionality would be helpful
- ways to connect datalink to sources that use two factor authentication keys like tableau
- Has allowed my company to analyze the impact of using different metrics when it comes to weighting costs.
- Has allowed me to efficiently keep track of what drives certain costs through built in functions
- Has allowed me to reduce data loads by up to 50%
