Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Block Storage

I have used IBM Cloud Block Storage for personal use, sorting personal files including documents, pictures and videos.

  • Money saver for storage of large amounts of data.
  • Integration with other open-source solutions could be better.
  • Both services are pretty much identical when it comes to their offerings and specifically in their availability, durability and scalability of block storage.
  • AWS S3 stacks someone better in most clients given the vast offerings of AWS within the rest of their solutions including real-time data processing, ETL capablities, performance monitoring. Moreover, integration in applications for ML ops or IoT is also slightly more competitive in most

Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), Amazon Athena, Amazon CloudWatch
IBM Cloud Block Storage would be appropriate for persistent storage of vasts amounts of data that either are yet to be determined how to process or are part of a defined data flow that doesn't require real-time analytics. That is any data lake solution is well suited for the IBM Cloud Block Storage. For big data analytics, IBM data warehouse would be a better alternative.
