Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions
IBM Cloud for VMware was evaluated during a proof of concept project where we compared the viability of the product against other cloud solutions. I am only aware of its usage by our department however it is a large company and it may be used in other pockets. The business problem we tried to solve with the product was the ability to burst workloads into the public cloud in order to meet customer demand before company-owned physical hardware could be deployed.

- Provides users with the ability to provision bare metal workloads
- Good monitoring and metrics
- API integration
Cons
- Training isn't readily available
- Needs better support for workflow software like Terraform and Ansible
- Managing user access can be difficult
- Lower hardware spending and shift from CapEx to OpEx spend
- Prices are easy to understand based on usage
- The ability to burst existing workloads into the cloud helps shift the development cost of legacy applications

IBM Cloud for VMware was a cheaper alternative to AWS and provided best-in-class tools such as security, backup, recovery/DR. The interface was easy to navigate and the support skillset is high.
