Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage

Cloud Object Storage is being used across the organisation. It solves the problem of data resiliency and availability for large amounts of archive data.

Pros

  • Accessors - docker deployment, VM deployment, hardware deployment (flexibility).
  • Data protection - erasure coding + IDA.
  • Performance.

Cons

  • No idea
  • No info yet
IBM COS comes as appliance. Overall slightly better performance for our workload type then MinIO or ceph. Easier managment.
Well suited: Archives, backup repositories, digital multimedia asset repository, web applications.
Less appropriate: Online Hi I/O low service time storage, file access.
