Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage
It is being used by me as I test its capabilities. I use it as part of IBM Watson's Natural Language Classifier product to aid the company's marketing. I am championing the use of Python within the business and using things like NLC and NLP is facilitating those actions. Once I have a better understanding of the product, I will likely roll out features to colleagues. I would say that IBM Cloud Object Storage has become crucial for my data management needs, helping me address scalability and durability, and various other data-related challenges while providing a flexible foundation for my team's digital transformation efforts.
Pros
- It allows you to store lots of data
- It's easy to use
- It's cost effective
- It's great for archiving and backups
- It's scalable
- It's durable
Cons
- The documentation around creating instances could be better
- It might not be easy for a novice to get their head around
- Navigation could be better
- I'm sad that the Watson API demo is no longer available
- It is affordable so ROI is incredibly high.
- It is fast working, reducing the time to build projects.
- It will aid objectives such as client retention and customer satisfaction.
This feature has been particularly helpful when performing data analysis without needing to export data into a separate big data platform. Alongside the benefit of improving my SQL skills, it has lead to more efficient data use and data retrieval. Overall, it has enhanced our working lives thanks to its value and flexibility and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Data transfer has been a breeze which I attribute to its robustness. When working with large datasets, it's been really handy to have that level of speed when it comes to data transfer, allowing us to save time and put that to better use: helping our clients increase their business value.
Naturally, cost effectiveness is a key part of any business and thanks to IBM Cloud Object Storage, we've achieved that by storing less frequently accessed data in cost-effective tiers like cool or cold storage while keeping active data in higher-performance, more expensive tiers. This dynamic approach means that we are only paying for the storage and performance levels we need for each specific dataset.
As Google Cloud Storage is our main product for this kind of thing, it remains the standard but in terms of overall performance, flexibility, stability, durability, and scalability, IBM Cloud Object Storage has put it through its paces. I think having a product put Google through its paces is always a good thing, both for businesses and for the industry overall.

I've actually used IBM Cloud Object Storage alongside IBM Watson Natural Language Classifiers and IBM Watson Natural Language Understanding and they work incredibly well alongside each other. I think that is the benefit over using Google products - it's easier to get connected and started. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
