Overall Satisfaction with IBM Guardium

Our use of IBM Guardium allows us to monitor for Risk Events and potential vulnerabilities in our databases. We can also provide some reactive protection in certain risky circumstances or during unwanted events. We protect a broad range of database types across diverse organizations and companies. We meet compliance regulations with the granular reporting provided by Guardium.

  • Provides granular reporting specific to management and security team's needs
  • Analyzes volumes of transactions to provide risk event details for investigation
  • Continuously provides system and environment health evaluations

Cons

  • The GUI could use some improvements in flow
  • The must-gathers could be more helpful in diagnosing issues
  • Increased uptime
  • Automation benefits
  • Decrease known risks
I find the ability to track database transactions and recall them later a most valuable attribute.
I can recall transactions and create reports that I could not do before.

I find there is a size limit where Guardium becomes unwieldy above that limit. In super-sized, global environments, the manpower and resources required to keep the product viable increase at rate that the costs could outweigh the benefit, driving the return on investment downward and making it a costly choice.
